This coming weekend is Easter. In Australia we have a four day weekend every year to celebrate Easter. However, besides the chocolate eggs and Easter bunny what do you know about Easter? Easter is a Christian holiday which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus on the third day after his crucifixion. Easter is traditionally celebrated by having a feast on Easter Sunday.
There are also many non-religious elements to Easter which are celerated by both Christians and non-Christians alike, for example, eating chocolate eggs and bunnies. Many young families organise an Easter egg hunt around the house and garden for their children. Some children also have wooden baskets for the "Easter bunny" to leave eggs in.
Easter falls on a different day each year depending on the lunar calendar. It is usually between late March and late April. This year Easter is from March 21st to the 24th.
